Splendid Spoon for Busy Moms
I am a busy mom and I am proud of it. Let me elaborate - I have an equally busy husband, two kids (7 and 9), gym every morning, huge house to keep clean, huge garden to love, many friends to see, shopping, cooking, after school activities for kids, and almost a full time job from home. Sometimes I don’t know how I do it all!
There are days when something has to give. Reading and movie watching is out of question any more. Cleaning - when I find a minute. Gardening - minimal. What I don’t want to sacrifice is my high intensity workouts every morning and feeding all of us healthy diet. I believe food and sleep are the single two most important ways to stay healthy. Physical activity is a given in my family, which loves swimming and hiking whenever we get a chance.
Where am I leading, you might wonder? I would like to talk about how this busy mom discovered Splendid Spoon and why.
Now that the holidays are over, I would like to get back to less eating and taking a better care of myself. I am back to gym after two weeks, kids are back to school, and life is back to its busy normal. What is not back just yet is my weight and feeling heavy and bloated. I am not overweight, but I lost track of healthy food and portion control during all the holidays, so I was looking for something to reset my body in a gentle and healthy way. This is how my search led me to Splendid Spoon, which is not a diet, but more like a clean lifestyle.
Splendid Spoon is a meal delivery service, but a little different than what you might expect - they offer breakfast smoothies and lunch soups. All their meals are plant-based, loaded with vegetables, contain no added sugars and no preservatives, some ingredients are organic. This is as good as it gets for me, because I am not looking for a diet, and this is not a diet. However, people who are using this program constantly, end up losing weight seamlessly and without starving.
Most breakfast smoothies have about 200 calories, while soups range from 200 to 400. Consuming around 600 calories for the bigger part of the day will definitely lead to some weight loss as a side effect while you get to live your life and enjoy.
What does being a busy mom have to do with Splendid Spoon? Everything! While I get up at 6 am, make breakfast for kids, pack their lunches, drive them to school, and get my workout in, I get really hungry. I come home after all that at 8:30 am, finish kids’ breakfast, and often eat something more with my husband, who also works from home. Two breakfasts is not a good idea! With Splendid Spoon smoothies this danger is gone - I grab a bottle on my way out the door, enjoy it on my drive, during a workout, and post workout. I come home full, happy, and done with my breakfast, so no leftover eating is required.
When it comes to lunch, we all are on very different schedules. My husband wants something to eat between his business calls around 12:30 pm, when I am still not hungry. Kids come home and sit down to eat some kind of pasta at around 3 pm, when I would be too hungry by that time. With Splendid Spoon I am the queen of my time and eat whenever I want, which is usually around 1:30. My husband likes sandwiches or leftovers from last dinner for his lunch, so this soup is all mine to enjoy. It takes 4 minutes to heat it up and I can have my taste buds treated royally in no time.
The convenience and no preparation is a key for me. While some other diets, meal deliveries, and even meal kit delivery services are all great, I haven’t found the total package. Nutrisystem, South Beach Diet, and Medifast meals are microwavable and not tasty; I wouldn’t last with them more than one day. Hello Fresh and Blue Apron deliver healthy meal kits, but they require cooking, so again, that’s not what I am looking for. I can use them for dinner, but not all day.
Splendid Spoon seems to have it all for me - convenience and ready to eat meals that are tasty, healthy, natural, and vegetarian. They help me lose weight while not officially being on a diet and not starving. I could not survive on a diet that is not tasty, but I could go for weeks with Splendid Spoon.
There are no dinners from this company, but that is a good thing. I love our family dinners, when we all gather around the table, share a hearty home-cooked meal, and talk about our day. I don’t think you could do that with delivered food.
Let me end with this: I have tried Splendid Spoon for just a week, but I can see myself getting another shipment once this one is done, because thanks to ready-to-eat smoothies and soups, I remain busy, but with a little extra breathing room and very happy about my diet. If you can relate to me in any way, give Splendid Spoon a try and see if it can work for you.
